Morrisville, NC: Kuchipudi Technique Intensive with Yamini Kalluri

Yamini Kalluri will lead a four-day Kuchipudi intensive in North Carolina, hosted by Sri Venkatesa Kuchipudi Dance Academy.

The workshop will include focused training for the academy’s 2027 Rangapravesam students, with an emphasis on strengthening the technical foundations needed for performance preparation. Sessions will address posture, torso movement, clarity of angles, eye focus, and the distinctive steps and movement qualities that characterize Kuchipudi.

Additional sessions will offer concentrated practice in foundational technique, teermanams, drishti bhedas, and eye exercises. Participants will also explore the meanings and applications of hastas, developing greater coordination between gesture, gaze, body alignment, and expression. Through detailed correction and repeated practice, the intensive will help students build precision, strength, clarity, and confidence in their movement.
