About Rohini

Rohini Acharya

Rohini Acharya is an interdisciplinary scholar, practitioner, and educator. She holds a PhD in Dance Studies from The Ohio State University, an MFA in Dance from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, and an MA in Performance Studies from New York University. Informed by her Bharata Natyam practice, her research examines how US-based classical Indian dance festivals, competitions and online platforms provide opportunities for second-generation South Asian Americans to innovate and push the boundaries of tradition, as they develop Bharata Natyam to reflect their experiences of living in the US. She is thrilled to join Kritya Foundation as a Development Fellow.
