About the event
Join Yamini Kalluri for a three-part series exploring ballet principles as a cross-training tool for Indian classical dancers.
Drawing from Yamini’s extensive training across Kuchipudi and ballet, the series approaches ballet not as a new performance style to learn, but as another way of understanding and training the body. Sessions will explore principles that can support alignment, strength, stability, movement efficiency, line, coordination, and injury-conscious dance practice, with attention to how these ideas can complement the physical demands of Indian classical dance.
Designed as a progressive series across two consecutive weekends, concepts will be introduced, developed, and revisited over three sessions, giving dancers an opportunity to build greater familiarity with the practice. Participants are encouraged to attend the complete series, though individual sessions are also available.
Indian classical dancers from all styles and backgrounds are welcome. No prior ballet experience is required.
