About the event
Kritya Foundation joins Lotus Music & Dance’s 2026 World Dance Festival: Dancing Across Cultural Borders in New York City, bringing together dancers from the Kritya School of Dance and Kritya Dance Ensemble for a program showcasing the breadth and dynamism of Kuchipudi.
Students and ensemble members will open Kritya’s program with an arrangement of foundational movement sequences, the building blocks through which dancers develop the coordination, rhythm, stamina, musicality, and dynamic energy central to Kuchipudi.
The Kritya Dance Ensemble will then present two original works choreographed by Yamini Kalluri:
Bhu Suktam
Drawing from a Vedic hymn to Mother Earth, Bhu Suktam reflects on gratitude and humility toward the natural world, humanity’s impact upon it, and the possibility of restoring balance. The work features a musical arrangement by Yamini Kalluri and Rohith Jayaraman.
