About the event

Kritya Dance Ensemble has been selected to perform as part of Small Plates NYC, a curated dance festival bringing together choreographers and dance artists for an evening of short works at the historic Judson Memorial Church in Greenwich Village.

Kritya will present Rageshri Thillana, choreographed by Yamini Kalluri to the composition by legendary Carnatic violinist and composer Lalgudi Jayaraman.

Rooted in the aesthetic and movement vocabulary of Kuchipudi, the work draws upon Yamini’s influences from ballet to explore fluidity, line, rhythm, and the dancing silhouette. Dedicated to Shiva, the Lord of Dance and Destruction, the abstract work places an ever-evolving movement vocabulary against the recurring patterns of its musical composition, exploring ideas of dynamism, repetition, and transformation.

Dancers: Akhila Ballari, Shruthi Ailneni & Sravani Katamaneni

📅 Date: Saturday, November 14, 2026

🕗 Time: 8:00 PM
