As part of the Louis K. Thaler Concert Violinist Series, Kritya founder Yamini Kalluri joins acclaimed violinist Vijay Gupta for When the Violin at Ithaca College’s Hockett Family Recital Hall on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 8:15 PM. This special evening brings together violin and dance in a performance presented by the Ithaca College School of Music.

This program explores musical expression across centuries, bringing together Baroque masterworks and contemporary composition. The performance opens with movements from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Partita No. 3 in E Major for Solo Violin, a work celebrated for its brilliance, rhythmic vitality, and luminous clarity. Bach’s writing for solo violin transforms a single instrument into a richly textured musical world, balancing virtuosic passagework with dance-like elegance.
